BC backcountry skiing and hiking lodge south of Revelstoke and east of Silver Star resorts in the heart of the Monashee

Sol Mountain’s BC backcountry lodge is in the heart of the southern Monashee Mountain Range, on the east side of Monashee Provincial Park, 60 kilometers (40 miles) south of Revelstoke Mountain Resort and 60 kilometers (40 miles) east of Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon.

Getting Here

Trips to the lodge in winter are solely by helicopter, a scenic 15-minute helicopter flight across the Monashee Range from the town of Cherryville, or a 25-minute flight from Revelstoke.
Sol Mountain is a helicopter - accessed BC backcountry lodge so all food and supplies must be flown in and out. It is essential that all guests pack light – please bring only what you need.

Travel Details

We primarily stage from Cherryville, British Columbia, and it is a small town best reached by flying into Kelowna International Airport. Because we fly to the lodge via helicopter early in the morning, most guests arrive in Kelowna the day before a fly day to Sol Mountain. To reach our staging area from Kelowna International Airport, drive 45 minutes north on Highway 97 to Vernon. Then travel 45 minutes east on Highway 6 through the town of Lumby to Cherryville. Look for our sign at River Ridge Golf Course on your left. We will meet you at River Ridge at 7:30 a.m. to sign waivers (and eat breakfast if you like). After breakfast we drive to Cherryville and turn left at the Tempo Gas and go 20 minutes north to our helicopter staging area. You will see our bright Sol Mountain sign on your right. The 15-minute flight to the lodge is included in the cost of your trip to Sol Mountain. In the event it is unsafe to fly due to bad weather the exchange will be postponed to the following day. (If this occurs, you will be responsible for your own overnight accommodations.) If it's more convenient for you, helicopter transfers are also available from Silver Star and Big White ski resorts at an extra cost. Please contact Arrow Helicopters, 250.837.6288.

Shuttle Services

For guests flying into the Kelowna International Airport, the Vernon Airporter at 1.250.542.7574 provides shuttle service to Kelowna, Vernon, and Silver Star. For small groups of 3 or more the best value is V.I.P Shuttle Service at 1.250.307.6269, they will provide full transfer from the airport, to a hotel, and to our staging area the next morning.  For full groups Contact Discover Okanagan Tours at 1.800.797.6335.
