Hiking BC’s Monashee Provincial Park
Located south of Revelstoke in the Gold Range of the Monashees, Sol Mountain lodge offers hiking access to Monashee Provincial Park and terrain surrounding Bear and North Fosthall Crk to the east and South Fosthall Crk – Twin Peaks area to the south.
The lodge sits in an expansive alpine meadow at treeline, with easy access to the ridge above and surrounding lakes and peaks. Peak elevations are between 2400 meters and Mt. Fosthall our highest at 2700 meters. All peaks can be summited within a 4 to 5 hour hike from the lodge. Terrain is mostly non technical, with many great loop hikes and ridge walks available in all directions. Short strolls into the lodge meadows offer a world of wildflowers and mountain streams – and absorbing views of surrounding peaks.
Sol Mountain Lodge is also a great staging point for multi day hikes into Monashee Provincial Park.
Wildlife Viewing
The cool summer temperatures and abundant vegetation provide ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife. The park is home to one red-listed bird species, the Northern Goshawk, and two red-listed mammals, the wolverine and mountain caribou. As well as endangered species, the area also boasts moose, mule deer, and black bear, blue-listed grizzly bear and Townsend's big-eared bat, marten and cougar and also Pikas. Fishing
Fishing the shores of our local hike-in lakes offer rewarding days for avid anglers. Rainbow trout can be fished in Margie, Peters, and Bear Lakes. Margie Lake is a true alpine lake at an elevation of 1800 meters, surrounded by open meadows and rugged peaks – a 2 to 3 hour hike from the lodge. Peters Lake is located just below treeline at 1700 meters with dramatic views of Mt Fosthall and Slate Mtn - a 3 to 4 hour hike from the lodge. Bear Lake offers very good fishing below treeline at 1500 meter elevation – a 2 to 3 hour hike from the lodge.
Fishing requires a license in BC. The license can be obtained online.

Your Safety
Sol Mountain's ACMG certified backcountry hiking guides put safety as priority for your holiday.
Prior to the first day in the mountains, all guests are instructed in techniques for hiking in our terrain.
Sol Mountain's hiking guides are trained and certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG), one of the most respected institutions of its kind. This process ensures that guides have extensive hiking experience, exposure to a variety of operations, experience in a variety of mountain ranges, and meet current professional standards. Certifications are also held in first aid. Guides meet every morning and evening to review weather information and select appropriate terrain for your day of hiking with options for all abilities.
Sol Mountain Touring is also a member of the Backcountry Lodges of British Columbia (BLBC), ensuring that we meet a comprehensive set of operating guidelines.

Waiver of Liability
Sol Mountain Touring is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable mountain experience. Hiking in the backcountry mountain environment exposes hikers to inherent risks. All guests must read and sign a Release of Liability and Waiver of Claims Agreement before the start of a holiday at Sol Mountain Touring.
